The bedroom is the little haven of calm vibes and relaxation after a stressful day, so you’ll no doubt want this space to be free from clutter, fully optimised, and practical in a way that works best for your individual needs.
But if you have limited space in your bedroom, you’ll need to get creative.
From pegboards to storage headboards, there are actually lots of ways to improve the space in your bedroom, I’ve narrowed it down to 23 of the most brilliant space-saving tips and tricks for your bedroom.
1. VACUUM PACK UNUSED CLOTHES
Vacuum storage bags are a great way to store unused or rarely worn clothes. You can simply put them under your bed, or wardrobe or keep them hidden in the back of your drawers.

There’s no doubt that a good chunk of space around the perimeter of your bedroom near the ceiling is empty and could be put to better use.
We always tend to put floating shelves mid-way up the wall but having shelves even higher means you can store away rarely used things and just kind of forget about them as it’s way above your eye level.

3. BUY A GAS LIFT BED
A bed with a big mouth to gobble up all your less frequently used shoes, accessories, blankets, books – you name it!

4. INSTALL A PEGBOARD ON THE WALL

In the absence of a bedside table, the shelf on top also makes for a good spot to place your lamp.

8. BUY A BED FRAME WITH DRAWERS
Bed drawers are a great way to store blankets and sheets (at least that’s what I use mine for), you could literally store anything you like with these built-in drawers.
Not only are the drawers completely and discreetly hidden out of sight, but the storage they provide might even make you rethink if you really need all the other pieces of storage furniture in the room.

9. UNDER THE BED SHOE CART
Got too many shoes that won’t fit in your shoe cabinet? An under-bed shoe cart might be just the thing!
If you have a bed frame with space underneath, you could benefit from having all your extra shoes on a tidy shoe cart on wheels for convenience, discretion, and easy accessibility.

Now I know you’re thinking that these beds look an awful lot like children’s bunk beds, and to be fair – you’re not wrong!

18. BUY A FREESTANDING CLOTHES RAIL ON WHEELS
Not everyone has the luxury of a built-in wardrobe in their bedroom or the space for a bulky wardrobe.

21. OVER-BED STORAGE COMBINATION
The wall that you have your headboard up against is probably a bare wall unless you have an accent wall or gallery wall, and as for furniture, it’s most likely two side tables with a small lamp on either side right?
But if you are struggling for extra space why not utilise that wall entirely? Over-bed storage creates space for much more cupboards, and furniture shops like IKEA allow you to create customised over-bed storage like the one seen in the image.

22. OVER-THE-DOOR SHOE POCKETS
Over-the-door shoe cabinets are simply designed to hang on the inside of your door.
They are very easy to assemble and require no drilling so wouldn’t damage your door during installation.
They are an easy, practical, and cheap alternative and virtually take up no space when compared to a shoe cabinet.

23. BUY A SOFA BED
A sofa bed would be a great option for a studio flat (apartment) where your rest centre and entertainment hub are one and the same.
You have the convenience of having a bed that also functions as a sofa for when your friends come round.
All without taking up any extra space!
