I think there have been many hair trends over the years that, looking back on it now - seem ridiculous!
Remember the mullet, zig-zag parting, and crimping waves? All iconic or at least popular hairdos for their time, but are unlikely to have a revival (fingers crossed).
That being said, there is a forgotten hair trend of the early 2010s which is making its waves through Tiktok and Instagram, it’s less of a style, but more of an adornment to the hair - tinsel (aka fairy hair or glitter hair!)

You might remember Beyonce’s sparkly appearance at the 2010 Grammy Awards rocking the shimmery stuff usually reserved for Christmas decorations, and there were some mixed opinions about it, but it looks like the trend has fiercely caught on recently.
Model Ash Walker posted a stunning pic on Instagram in November 2019 loaded with hair tinsel.
Katy Perry wore hair tinsel to celebrate “Play” her new Las Vegas residency, promoting her appearance at the Resorts World Theatre in November 2021.
More recently, Megan Thee Stallion, sported hair tinsel on her Instagram post in February this year.
You may not be attending any red-carpet events, rocking out at a concert, or getting dolled up for a photoshoot anytime soon.

HOW ARE THEY INSTALLED?
Hair tinsel can be installed by attaching a few strands of hair tinsel to each bond of micro rings.
It can also be done by creating a slip knot with the tinsel, feeding your hair through the loop and then creating a simple knot with your hair and the tinsel.

ARE THEY VERSATILE?
Although tinsel appears to be wispy and weak they are surprisingly quite tough, they can be blowdried, flat ironed, tonged, even washed! They are super low maintenance and can last for up to 6+ weeks.
In terms of colours, you can pretty much have whatever colour you want! Red, yellow, green, blue, pink, multi-coloured - you name it!
