This year, TikTok has been a platform where many highly sought-after beauty and makeup trends have emerged.

From slugging skin to Hailey Bailey’s perfect summer strawberry girl, we just can’t seem to get enough inspiration to create skin magic.

But, speaking of summer, we now have a makeup trend inspired by the warm hues of everyone's favourite coffee drink - Latte!

In this post, I'll walk you through the steps to achieve that flawless, latte-inspired complexion, so sip on some glamour and discover how to nail the latte makeup skin trend with finesse.

What Is The Latte Makeup Skin Trend?

The latte makeup skin trend is a popular beauty look that takes inspiration from the rich and creamy texture of a latte.

The term was coined by TikTok creator Rachel Rigler, who explains latte makeup as “warm and bronzey, milky and effortless”.

But the bronzed makeup look with caramel undertones was first created by makeup artist Tanielle Jai, back in 2018 but has resurfaced this summer and is now dubbed ‘latte makeup’.

How To Create The Latte Makeup Look?

In her TikTok video, Jai shares the key to getting a latte makeup look - choosing colours that belong to the same “monochromatic caramel” family.

Whether you want a matte or glowing bronze finish, it's important to select products with similar hues and undertones.

Those with a warm skin complexion, should opt for products with a yellow base and avoid those with a red tone.

To achieve this look, follow these step-by-step instructions:

STEP 1 - Prep your skin: Start by prepping your skin with a hydrating primer to create a smooth canvas. This will help your makeup last longer and create a flawless finish.

STEP 2 - Luminizing skin tint serum:

Using a skin tint serum is the perfect way to get a glowy base. Jai uses Iconic London’s Super Smoother Blurring Skin Tint.

STEP 3 - Foundation and concealer: Apply your favourite foundation that matches your skin tone.

A breathable lightweight foundation such as Merit’s Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Foundation And Concealer Stick may work best in the hotter months.

Blend it well using a brush or sponge for a natural-looking finish.

STEP 4 - Apply bronzer: The key component of this ‘latte makeup’ look is the bronzer.

To achieve a sun-kissed look on your face, take a bronzer that has yellow undertones and apply it on your cheekbones and temples of your forehead.

This will create a natural glow and add more dimension to your face.

STEP 5 - Warm neutral eyeshadow: Now for the eyes, choose warm neutral eyeshadow shades like caramel, beige, or light brown depending on how ‘smokey’ you want to make it.

Apply a lighter shade all over the eyelid as a base. Then, use a medium shade in the crease to add depth and dimension.

Finish off with a shimmering champagne or gold shade on the centre of the lid for a pop of brightness.

STEP 6 - Defined brows: Fill in your eyebrows using an eyebrow pencil or powder that matches your natural hair colour.

Define and shape your brows to frame your face and enhance your features.

STEP 7 - Mascara and eyeliner: Apply a coat or two of mascara to your lashes to make them appear longer and fuller. Lancôme’s award-winning Hypnôse Mascara is a must-try.

If desired, you can also add a thin line of eyeliner along the upper lash line for added definition.

Step 8 - Luscious lips: Finish off the look with a luscious lip colour.

Opt for a nude or warm-toned lipstick in shades like terracotta, mauve, or dusty pink. You can also add a touch of lip gloss for extra shine.
